the cutest spooky cocktail for Halloween

Halloween is no doubt my favorite time of the year to entertain. I mean, what other holiday involves eating, drinking and being scary? Not to mention that dressing up in costumes makes any celebration all the better. I always have a spooky Halloween get-together with friends at my house each year, so it’s a fun excuse to bake, decorate and create a house cocktail based on the party theme. Last year, I served one of my favorite drinks, this Sparkling Pear Apple Cider Sangria. It was such a hit, that I knew I would have to think up something new for this year too. Enter: The Passionfruit Mar-ghoul-rita. (Get it? Ha.).

I took the recipe for a test run at our most recent photo shoot, and, needless to say, it was a hit. Besides being fruity and delicious, the best part about this cocktail were the fun gummy worm ice cubes we added to give it a Halloween twist. This gummy worm ice cube party trick is easy as pie, and you can add them to pretty much any cocktail you choose to serve at your Halloween festivities this year.

how to make the perfectly spooky and delicious cocktails for Halloween

  • passion fruit juice
  • sparkling water (I prefer coconut flavored La Croix)
  • 2 limes
  • sea salt
  • tequila
  • sour candy gummy worms
  • ice cube tray

1. For the gummy worm ice cubes: Fill your ice cube mold with water then place your gummy worms strategically into each ice cube mold. We had fun making some of the gummies “swim” from one cube to the other. Let freeze for 2-4 hours or until completely frozen.

2. Then, start off by salting your margarita glasses. Lightly wet the rims of your glasses by sliding a sliced lime around them. Then, pour your sea salt onto a small plate and twist the rim of your glass into the salt, so that the salt sticks to it completely.

3. Mix together 2 parts passion fruit juice, 1 part sparkling water, and 1 part tequila.

4. Squeeze the juice of the whole lime evenly into each glass. Slice the other lime into wedges or slices and use as garnish.

5. Remove your gummy worm ice cubes from their molds and place into each drink for a spooky touch.

cocktails that are perfect for this Halloween

This recipe is so simple, which makes it great for a party. I suggest making a big batch in a pitcher or drink dispenser and having your gummy worm ice cubes on hand for guests to add to their drinks. Boo!

What tricks and treats do you like to make in the kitchen this time of year?
